On Wednesday afternoon, 13 October, the Class of 2021 was officially inducted into the ranks of the Old Unionite Association (OUA).
What would have traditionally been an evening affair, was (for the second year in a row) turned into an afternoon get-together at the end of the school day to ensure all Covid-19 regulations were met.
This annual event, where the Grade 12s are presented with their OUA membership cards, sees all the matrics gather for what might most likely be one of the very last times they will be spending time together as a class.
The Grade 12s were welcomed by Headmaster Mr William Pringle, after which they were addressed by guest speaker Mr Dave Stern, chairman of the OUA committee.
Mr Stern shared with the learners some special words of wisdom, calling on them to uphold the high moral standards the school stands for and encouraging them to always support and return to their Alma Mater and to remember the values instilled in them during their school years at Union High.
The event culminated in each Grade 12 learner enjoying a burger lunch and some refreshments.
